why does our breathing rate varies? short answer please

rheya: nice question..
rheya: I too want to know
Prathamgurnani2006: It's mostly due to an increase in CO2 levels. Oxygen is the energy driving our metabolism. ... The athlete already has 98% oxygen saturated blood, but CO2 needs to be blown off. The higher CO2 levels cause the variations in breathing, absent certain pathologies such as asthma.
rheya: oh..Thanks

In a healthy person, the breathing rate will increase during exercise as more oxygen needs to get to the muscles that are used in the exercise. And when you relax, the breathing rate will go down as there is less need to flood your muscles with unwanted oxygen.

chaneeshusa: yes, it is also because,
