why does our fingers shrink when we place them in water for a long time?

Beacause water is type of hypertonic solution. Hypertonic solution means when a water concentration is low outside the cell and water concentration is high inside the cell that is called hypertonic solution. When we put our fingers in a water so our finger cell going to be shrink and this process is known as Endosmosis.
