The image in a mirror appear thin or bulge out in some mirrors because the thickness of the mirror may vary or the reflecting surface may not be flat.

Explanation:

it is due to reflecting surface

if the mirror is bulged out (convex mirror) then image formed is thin and short

if mirror is is bent inwards (concave mirror) then image can be thin or bulged according to place of object
