In India the most widespread gender stereotype is that of women as a housewife, cook, mother,or daughter who has to be married off.Womens primary role as a caretaker and a homemaker is one which is not valued. There is no sharing of the household chores between men and women whether employed or not.It means that household jobs are considered to be a duty of the women for which they are not paid.

Hope it helps.

Answer:

The main responsibility for housework and care-giving tasks, like looking after the family, especially children, the elderly and sick members, lies with women. But, the work that women do within the home is not recognised as work. It is also assumed that this is something that comes naturally to women. It, therefore, does not have to be paid for. And society devalues this work.
