mucus is a protective layer present inside the stomach which allows no harm to us because there are gastric acids in are stomach to digest food. thereby acids are not good but the layer of mucus protects us from acids and in turn acids help in digesting the food. mucus is very useful to us and it is also secreted by epithelial and Foveolar cells. it protects the stomach from its highly acidic [HCI].
