We see that Portia wants Bassanio to stay for a month or two before making choice. She fells in love with Bassanio and she was scared to lose him. According to the quest if Bassanio makes the wrong choice then he must leave immediately from belmont.
Portia was scared as she thought that she would lose Bassanio, therefore she wants him to tarry for a month before making choice.
