why does potential is positive in vicinity of a posituve charge

The potential is positive in the vicinity of a positive charge since work has to be done on the positive charge against the repulsive force due to the positive charge in bringing it from infinity...
When work is done on the charge against the repulsive positive charge, the potential is positive.


We have studied that when force is applied on a body and it moves in the direction of the force applied (towards the position charge) then work done is positive. Here, work done is related to potential.
