Hey Mate...

The pulmonary arteries have light violet blood as an artistic depiction to stress they carry deoxygenated blood, or oxygen poor blood, from the heart to the lungs.

EXPLANATION:

  • Most arteries carry ‘oxygenated blood’. Pulmonary artery are an exception to this.
  • They carry blood from the ‘right ventricle of the heart’ to the lungs and the blood is always deoxygenated.
  • As a result unlike other vessels which are red in colour the colour of Pulmonary arteries a light violet.
  • This is because of the absence of large amount of oxygen or oxyhaemoglobin which isn't present in such blood. However the pulmonary veins are reddish in colour.
