EXPLANATION:
- Most arteries carry ‘oxygenated blood’. Pulmonary artery are an exception to this.
- They carry blood from the ‘right ventricle of the heart’ to the lungs and the blood is always deoxygenated.
- As a result unlike other vessels which are red in colour the colour of Pulmonary arteries a light violet.
- This is because of the absence of large amount of oxygen or oxyhaemoglobin which isn't present in such blood. However the pulmonary veins are reddish in colour.
