Emma wants Harriot to reject Mr.Martin because Emma thinks that Mr. Marti is not Harriot's equal.
He may be sending her a marriage proposal not because he loves her, because he wants her money.
Since Emma is an independent girl, she does not want girls to lose their authority and submit to their husbands.
