Why does relative density have no units

Relative density is given by the following formula: Relative density = Density of the substance/Density of water at 4°C. As both the numerator and the denominator on the RHS of the above formula has the same unit (i.e. kg/m3) they get cancelled. Hence relative density has no unit.
