why does river Brahmaputra shifts it's channels frequently?

1. The Brahmaputra is divided into many channels and under flood conditions it changes its channels due to sediments deposition, transportation and bars information.

1. Brahmaputra river brings down a lot of sediments from the Himalayas.

It thus looses its potentiality to carry the load as it reaches the plains of Assam.

2. The sudden drop of gradient after entering Assam.

This is due to relatively flat relief ,results in deposition of huge amount of sediments and silts.

3. The barriers like Namcha Barwa obstruct the path of natural flow.

This leads to Brahmaputra to change its channel frequently.
