Why does semiconductor have negative temperature cofficient?

Coefficients approaching zero can be obtained by alloying certain metals. Anegative coefficient for a material means that its resistance decreaseswith an increase in temperature.Semiconductor materials (carbon, silicon, germanium) typically have negative temperature coefficients of resistance.
