Cutting or shaving the wool off of a sheep is called shearing. Shearing doesn't usually hurt a sheep. It's just like getting a hair cut. However, shearing requires skill so that the sheep is shorn efficiently and quickly without causing cuts or injury to the sheep or shearer.

  • The uppermost layer of the skin is dead. As we know the hair of the sheep grow again just as our hair does. the shearing of sheep does not hurt it because its uppermost layer of skin is dead just as our hair.so when we cut our hair it doesnt pain ,similarly when shearing of sheep is done it does not hurt it.
