SiCl4 is ionic bond where as CCl4 is a covalent bond.
Ionic bond react with water where as covalent bond reacts with non-polar solvents.

rajusetu: MINE IS CORRECT OR NOT
Sreenivas: Yes you are right
rajusetu: SO YOU STUDY IN FIITJEE
Sreenivas: No in inter 1st year
keerthika1998lekha: im in 11th
rajusetu: HI BROTHER

see my dear
here electronegativity difference between cl ,c is less than the difference between si,cl the bonds in ccl4 are having covalent character As water is unable to break covalent bond only sicl4 is hydrolized

rajusetu: MARK MINE AS THE BEST
Sreenivas: Sir you are absolutely right
rajusetu: MARK MINE AS THE BEST FAST
