When silver bromide or AgBr is kept in open surface a chemical reaction occurs. due to presence of sunlight

Chemical decomposition called photo chemical reaction occurs where silver bromide turns into grey colour.

This happens because silver bromide absorbs photo electrons from rays of sun forming photo chemical reaction where silver and bromide separates from each other, 2AgBr → Ag₂ + Br₂

Silver Bromide (AgBr) when kept in open surfaces will get exposed to air and a chemical reaction will occur leading to the formation of Silver and Bromide gas. AgBr --> Ag+ + Br-. Hence, it is always stored in brown bottles away from sunlight. This is also used in developing photographs and is also known as photochemical decomposition reaction.
