Sky appears blue due to following reasons :-
1) the light coming from the sun gets scattered by the small particles (dust) present in the atmosphere. Since blue light has a shorter wavelength it gets scattered to a greater extent.
2) the upper part of troposphere and stratosphere has ozone which has characteristics blue colour
