A clear cloudless day-time sky is blue because molecules in the air scatter blue light from the sun more than they scatter red light. When we looktowards the sun at sunset, we see red and orangecolours because the blue light has been scattered out and away from the line of sight.

how air scatters blue light
Now, when a wave has a small wavelength, even small objects scatter it. Just imagine it. If the wavelength is large, it will pass over or miss smaller particles in between its crests and troughs. This analogy should make it clearer.

We know that there are seven colours coming from the sun.But the blue colour has more power than all other six colours that's why sky looks blue.
