Oxygen has 6 outer electrons, and so does sulfur. ... The sulfur now has a 6+ charge, whilst there are 3 oxygen atoms that have a 2- charge. These charges cancel out, leaving the molecule to be neutral. That's why SO3 is Neutral.....

After sulfur donates 6 of its

electrons, it is left with a

full (empty) outer shell as it

has lost its outer electrons,

and the other oxygen atoms

have full outer shells.

The sulfur now has a

6+ charge,whilst

there are 3 oxygen atoms that

have a 2- charge. These

charges cancel out,

l eaving the molecule

to be neutral.
