A solid changes into liquid on heating because solids have large inter particle force of attraction and on heating, the bonds between the particles start to break. After some time the inter particle spaces increase and it gets converted into a liquid.

Due to melting.

When a solid is heated, the particles are given more energy and start to vibrate faster. At a certain temperature, the particles vibrate so much that their ordered structure breaks down. At this point the solid melts into liquid.
