the solution containing non-volatile solute would have less surface area for the solvent to vaporise due to which the vapour pressure would be less in the container. hence boiling point higher as the boiling point is the point of equilibrium of vapour phase and the liquid phase which in pure solvent would be more easier and fast to achieve. Hence the pure solvent would have a low boiling point than the mix solution. it is a colligative property because as it would depend on the quantity of the solute present in the solution.
