Sound in solids

In a solid, the particles are even closer together and linked by chemical bonds so the wave travels even faster than it does in either liquid or air, but you need quite a lot of energy to start the wave at the beginning..

hey buddy, it is so because in as Wood is in a solid Form, the molecules have very less intermolecular space within them as they are tightly packed so when the Sound strucks one of the molecules, the Vibration spreads further without consuming much time whereas in the case of a Liquid the molecules are'nt closely packed but they have intermolecular space within them as a result they are distant to each other. so when the Sound strucks one of the molecules it takes a little time to struck another molecules one after another and this is the reason why Sound travels faster in Wood than in water......

hope it helps you and Mark as the brainliest and follow me please...
