why does stars glitters

pooja12375: they actually do not glitter ..but glittering effect is due to refraction due to dust particles in our atmosphere.so sometimes due to refraction the light coming to eye of observer is bright and sometimes it is dim.it is twinkling effect of stars.
pooja12375: let me know if it is helpful.

Stars twinkle because of turbulence in the atmosphere of the Earth. As the atmosphere churns, the light from the star is refracted in different directions. This causes the star's image to change slightly in brightness and position, hence "twinkle."
