Why does swiss cheese has holes

Am i cirrect these are not holes instead they are bubbles which were trapped due to trapped Carbon dioxide ​

yes you are correct........the bacteria Propionibacterium shermannii produces carbon dioxide because of which they appear like pores

Yeah you are correct . It is because of the bacteria P .Shermani which consumes lactic acid and releases CO2 which form trapped air bubbles
