why does tamprature remains constant during melting and boiling?

because the energy that is provided to raise the temperature is being used for breaking the inter molecular forces so temp is not increasing

it is because the intermolecular forces are so strong that it needs huge energy to overcome the forces. it also depend upon latent heat of fusion and vaporization
