why does temperature remain constant during the change of state at R.T​

Answer:

Because the heat that you are provided to the system for changing its state. Actually that heat is absorbed in the form of latent heat or hidden heat. (basically heat required to break the bond or the attraction between the molecules). Hence there is no change in temperature. Once all the bond are broken then you can see the temperature change using thermometer.
