At First the temperature remains constant....but gradually slowly and slowly the temperature rises....this is because of the impurities in water....if u take distilled water, this will not happen....

Heat is being added to ice as it melts, but that heat is going into turning the water from a solid into a liquid rather than increasing the temperature.
