Since the shape of the Earth is spherical, the angle of incidence of Sun's rays is not the same in every part on the Earth's surface. Along with the spherical shape, the revolution of the Earth around the Sun leads to gradual decrease in temperature with an increase in latitudes.

Because of spherical shape of the earth, at lower latitude. near equator the solar radiation is more because it receives directly vertical rays so more energy is gained i.e. more hot.So, temperature varies according to latitude.
