why does the action of salivary amylase stop in stomach ?

Typically the PH in the stomach is around 1.0 to 2.0 whivh is extremely acidic.this level of acidity cause the salivary amaylase protein structure to denature and change shape.consequently,salivary amylase does not work in the stomach.

Heyo !!!!

Salivary Amylase is active only in slightly alkaline medium...as the stomach is acidic medium due to release of HCl....
Hence salivary amylase is not active in stomach...
