Author was from Bombay city which was full of noise and people. But village was less populated So, he described it  a quiet and peaceful village.

The first sound in the village was the Bakri’s grandfather’s  sound  calling out from the ramparts of the nearby  mosque which he  never missed a single day.

However one day he was  surprised to find no early morning call from grandfather.
