Miss Mebbin, the paid companion of Mrs. Packletide, had a protective elder sisterly attitude towards money. She was a great lover of money. Many a times she had saved roubles centimes and francs by not tipping. She had asked Mrs. Packletide also to pay less to the villagers as the tiger was quite old and if he didn't touch the goat, she need not pay for the goat as well.
