Because the magnitude of the drag force becomes equal to the weight of the body,the acting force acting on the body becomes zero. so it acquires terminal velocity.

when the air resistance force equal the weight of the falling object that means that object is falling with constant velocity it's acceleration is zero there fore heavy objects will fall faster in air
