Why does the cardiac muscle need to be involuntary instead of voluntary muscles?

You can control some muscle movements. However, certain muscle movements happen without you thinking about them. Muscles that are under your conscious control are called voluntary muscles. Muscles that are not under your conscious control are called involuntary muscles.

cardiac muscles are heart muscles. They need to work continuously. So the muscle in heart is involuntary. Voluntary muscles are under our control. We can regulate it's working. Like the muscles of our hands and legs so these muscles are voluntary.

In a nutshell... Involuntary muscles are those muscles that are associated with those parts of our body that is not under our control.
