Caterpillars are being feed voraciously with the regular supply of mulberry leaves.

This regular and frequent eating is necessary in order to let them grow .

They need their food at regular interval else may end up in dying even at a larva stage.

That is the main reason for which caterpillars should not be deprived of food at that critical stage of growth.

The caterpillar of a silk moth feed continuously because if the food is insufficient then they will not produce silk properly.

EXAPLAINATION:

Caterpillar of silk-moth has a very short life span.  Caterpillar of silk-mothis being feed with regular supply of mulberry leaves.  If there is insufficient amount of food to the caterpillars then they will not grow properly.

As Caterpillar of silk mothhave a very short life span due to this they produce silk fibres  as much as possible and as it requires a lot of energy to produce silk fibres so they feed continuously to gain more energy for silk production in their short lifespan.
