The little boy lay behind because he was getting attracted towards the things kept in the fair. The child keeps lagging behind his parents on the way and his mother and father have to constantly call him so that he doesn't lag behind. This is because the child is fascinated by all the things he sees on his way.

the child gets attracted by many things in the fair. He sees many things like a garland of gulmohar,sweets,toys,the giant wheel,the snake charmer's music. He wants to get all of them and he wonders all the things around there. He asks his parents for sweets or toys but his parents refuses his proposal. Hence in disapointment the child lags behind.
