Why does the colour of copper powder become black when heated in air?

copper heated in presence of air form it's oxide due to formation of oxide it's colour become change from blue to black .

When copper powder is heated in air, it reacts with oxygen present in the air. Oxygen is added to copper powder and copper oxide is formed. Hence the colour of copper powder changes to brown.
