The colour of Copper sulphate solution changes when an iron nail is dipped in it because iron is more reactive than copper. It displaces copper from the copper sulphate solution and the blue colour of copper sulphate solution disappears and the iron nail becomes brownish in colour.
The following chemical reaction takes place
Fe+CuSO4. =FeSo4 + Cu

Answer:Iron is more reactive than copper. So, when an iron nail is dipped in a copper sulphate solution, iron displaces copper from its solution to form iron sulphate, which is green in color.

Fe (s) + CuSO4 (aq) –––> FeSO4 (aq) + Cu (s)
