why does the direction of current in ac generator change in every half rotation?

Answer:
HEY MATE,
HERE'S YOUR ANSWER.
=> After every half rotation, each side of the generator coil starts moving in the opposite direction in the magnetic field. Thus, due to change in the direction of motion of the two sides of the coil in the magnetic field after every half rotation, the direction of induced current also changes.
HOPE IT HELPS YOU. :)
Alternating current is an electric current which periodically reverses direction, in contrast to direct current which flows only in one direction.
The direction of current in an AC system comes down to the way it is generated.
AC Current changes direction because that's how the rotating current generator works in the power station. When the big magnets approach a coil in the generator the current goes in one direction, then as the magnet goes past the coil, the current flows in the other direction. So the current constantly changes backwards and forwards as the generator spins, that's why it is called Alternating Current, (AC) !
