why does the fuse has a low melting point?

a fuse has a low melting point because if the voltage coming from whatever the source increases, then it might harm all the electric appliances. to prevent this the fuse has a low melting point so that if the voltage increases, the fuse melts and thus breaking the circuit to keep your appliances safe
