why does the ghost of helen spell the word T-R-A-I-T-O-R on the ouija board ? what does it mean

At first the word traitor means Cheater, one who cheats.

Here the Ghost of Helen says so because she has already told Hallock the narrator not to use the ouija board and disturb the ghosts.. But instead of that, he couldn't convince his wife to avoid using the Ouija board, and Hallock's wife throws a Ouija board party.. Hence the Ghost of Helen is once again disturbed and she calls Hallock a taritor..
