Goddess Durga is known as MahisasurMardini means killer of Demon Mahisasur who was represented as Buffello beneath the lion or known as Simhavahini , one who resides on Lion. When Goddess Durga killed Demon king, Himavat offered her a white lion which is represented as golden due to shine in Sun rays.
