Answer:

The great Himadri or Himalayas is located in northern end and it has core of granite. It is formed by the collision of two continental plates name as Indian plate and Eurasian Plate and these plates are made up of granite rocks and this is the reason that Himalayas are made by granite. Due to the collision between the plates, deposited sedimentary rocks in geosynclines called as Tethys and later they were folded to form mountain

Himalayas are made of metamorphic rocks, the overturned limb leads to asymmetric fold and continental collision create himalayas which are still rising.

Explanation:

  • The greater Himalayas are made of the continental plates that are an Indian or a Eurasian plate and are made up of granitic rocks and which form the backbone of the Himalayas that are made of metamorphic rocks like schist and gneiss forming at a height of 8000 meters.
  • An asymmetric fold is one that has an inclined axial plane. Such that the strata of one limb are overturned.
  • The Himalayan ranges and Tibetan high mass have formed as a result of the collision of the Indian plate and Eurasian plate.
  • Which created an upliftment of the sediments at the base due to the rise of the tethy sea during 50 million year ago and still continues to gain height.
