Why does the intruder desired to kill Garrard???

hey thhe answer is ....

actullay intruders intention was to occupy Gerrard place .so that he can do whatever he wants and can be escaped from police. the intruder resembles gerrard and he is similar to him.

The intruder is similar to gerrard in build. He looked like him. After killing Gerrard he wanted to impersonate him and get rid of the police.so he choose Gerrard as his target
