Iron is Fe, and copper sulphate is CuSO4. Fe is more reactive than Cu. So it displaces Cu. So iron nail become brownish and following reaction takes place :
Fe+CuSO4---- FeSO4+Cu
Fe+CuSO4---- FeSO4+Cu
