Why does the kinetic energy of gases is more than solids

kinetic energy of solids is less because the particles of solids r tightly arranged, not allowing them to move hence, the kinetic energy is not produced.
in gases particles r far from each other and due to temperature these particles move and acquire kinetic energy.
