why does the Kosi river being such huge quantity of sediments from the upper reaches
Answers
The rivers flowing from upper region to lower region It means great Himalayas to shivaliks the rivers will carry silt. this is because our Deccan plateau is tilted towards south.

HERE IS THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION....
Very high sediment : The Kosi river has the largest elevation drop of all Himalayan rivers. This means two things –
It comes down a much steeper slope and therefore has a much higher velocity to carry sediments with it. It covers a lot more ground than other rivers before reaching the plains. There are three tributaries that combine just before the plains, so that is sediment from three upstream rivers that comes together in one strong flow.
Because of this, the uptake of silt is higher than most rivers. Once it hits the plains (and especially plains in Nepal and Bihar) this sedimentation is spread out over the basin.
Avulsive shifts occur as a result of channel slopes that are much less steep than the slope that the river could travel if it took a new course. Avulsions have a strong impact on river morphology and present a major natural hazard like floods.
