Limewater Ca(OH)2 reacts with Co2 and form calcium carbonate CaCO3 which is insoluble and white crystalline in nature. ... When carbon dioxide ispassed through lime water it turns milky due to the formation of waterinsoluble precipitate CaCO3. Still if excess of CO2 is passed it formswater soluble Calcium bicarbonate
