why does the little girl kezia make this complaint to her grandmother? When and how does her attitude towards towards her father change ?

Kezia complained to her grandma when her father hit her after tearing up his important papers. Kezia wanted to badly know why her father was so mean. But her grandma told her to go to sleep and just comforted her.
One day when Kezia's mom fell ill and her grandma was in the hospital with Kezia's mom, she realized she was left alone with her father at home. She was advised not to disturb her father at night while he was sleeping with her nightmares as her father might get annoyed. But that night after she slept she had a horrible nightmare and thus she screamt for her life. Her father came running to her room,pacified her and then carried her to his room. After that he hugged her after which Kezia realized that he father wasn't as huge and horrific as she thought. She told her father that he was a man with a big heart. From that day onwards her feelings towards her father changed and she stopped being horrified and scared of him.
