Hey dear!
A magnet attracts another when the opposite poles of the magnet are near to each other.
The north pole of a magnet attracts the south pole if another magnet.
Similarly, the south pole of a magnet attracts the north pole of another magnet.
When the similar poles are near to each other repulsion can be observed.
A magnet repels the same pole of another magnet.
Hope helped!!

a magnet has a magnetic field around it. this force that the magnet exerts on its surrounding is a field force called magnetic force. this force may be attractive or may be repulsive. magnets are generally made of substances which have a high magnetic permeability. magnetic permeability of any substance is the extent to which it can hold the property of attracting other particles for a certain time period.
when the opposite poles of two magnets come close they attract else they repel. this is due to the fact that like charges repel and unlike charges attract.
