Why does the Malabar Coast receive more rainfall than the Coromandel coast even though it experiences lesser rainy months?

However, coromandel coast also receives rainfall during winter months(north eastmonsoon) monsoon. Malabar coast receives most of the rain fall as the winds are unable to cross the Western Ghats andshed their most moisture In the Malabar coast so,the Coromandal coast receives less rainfall.
