why does the maximum amount of rainfall happen between june and october

In India , the maximum amount of rainfall is received from the South West Monsoon winds during the period of June to September. The North east winds brings some rainfall to the Southern state of Tamil Nadu and nearby areas during winter as the monsoon retreats.
